Overview

A Jeweller is an artisan who uses metals, gems and many other materials to create adornments for the body. They might also be called upon to repair, adjust, clean and appraise pieces of jewellery. Although the term Bench Jeweller is a contemporary term with vague meaning, it is often is used to describe a jeweller who has a large set of skills. They have knowledge of stone setting, metal work, casting and other skills that widen their abilities in this micro art form.

Jewellery Design

Andrew creates custom jewellery on commission, including wedding and engagement rings, earrings, brooches, necklaces, pendants, bangles and bracelets. He offers a Jewellery Design service for bespoke items and can also create new pieces from existing items to preserve their sentimental value or bring them back to life.

Skills

Using traditional jewellers hand tools the Fire & Ore workshop works in Platinum, Gold, Silver, Precious and Semi Precious stones. Andrew moulds, casts and crafts jewellery by hand with fine detail. All aspects of repairs and alterations can also be undertaken on the island in the well-equipped workshop.

Experience

Andrew Scott trained for 6yrs in London’s jewellery centre in Hatton Garden with R. Glick Ltd of St Cross St. He has been hand making jewellery for 44 years using traditional techniques. Andrew produces innovative designs, many inspired by the natural world of which some of the most beautiful surround Alderney.
